Eclipse
I felt the moon next to me,
burned by the man in the moon.
I fell by the moon,
burned by the brightness of the sun.
Don't look at it straight on--
that's what the newspaper said.
I was waiting for the moon to pass me by,
when the heat of the sun became too much.
I was waiting for the moon to eclipse me,
ready to shine like a ring around the moon.
I was foolish,
I was blinded by the sun,
but you helped me remember the man in the moon.
And we are
two bodies passing like the moon,
two souls on a planet,
somewhere in the middle of a universe.
