Kyrie

disease catches the heart,
and takes you down when you least expect it.
into caves filled with darkness
and tunnels full of light.
The old woman walks down the aisle.
page turn--majesty, in the music
when we don't speak,
silent ecstasy fills the towers of your mind.
Another adventure takes hold,
and you find yourself galloping
through the forest,
with snow falling all around.

You are always dreaming of a proper pause.
You are the special effects!
So you dig out your costume,
and you take your place in the pageant.

Here is where we pray,
and this is where we eat.
This is Helen Keller.
She told you how to be blind, deaf and dumb,
and she taught you how ot love with fingers.
She taught you each word one by one,
and each one breathed the name of G-d.

Even when the disease took you heart.
This is the only performance,
and it will never be reapeated.
