LIFE AS CINEMA
FEATURE FILM-MAKING, TIBETAN STYLE
A Film About A Tibetan Lamas Play
With Cinema, Reality and Illusion
"Life as Cinema" is a feature film about a Tibetan Buddhist Lama, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
who, along with vast responsibilities as a high-ranking spiritual leader, has a deep love for cinema.
Transforming his throne into a director's chair, he has made his first motion picture, "Phorpa, The Cup".
His script is about Tibetan monks consumed with passion for World Cup Football.
"Life as Cinema" follows his cinematic adventure.
It explores the real events that inspired this unusual Buddhist Lama's film.
It creates a mirror between his film and a fascinating corresponding reality:
that of ancient Himalayan Buddhism, in exile in the modern world.
